The cemetery was founded on August 31, 1859 by the East Cleveland Township which is no longer in existence. The cemetery property was part of an annexation that took place in 1892 and the cemetery itself has been in the City of Cleveland since that date. The Cemetery is now owned and operated by the East Cleveland Township Cemetery Foundation. East Cleveland Cemetery Transcription project is currently a work in progress. However, the information available to date is also available on this site. A transcription project was completed by the Western Reserve Historical Society in 1933 and is available for your review in manuscript typewritten format at its Cleveland, Ohio location. This earlier transcription project was used to assist in identification of many of the current headstones. Digital photographs were taken of each of the headstones to memorialize the marker and to assist in the preservation of the existence of our ancestors. East Cleveland Cemetery Burials : All the burial cards have been scanned and the information contained on the records are available through this link. East Cleveland Cemetery Lot Ownership: The lot ownership cards, ledgers and several hundred of the deeds were scanned to create this database of information. Collinwood School Fire Memoriam - The children who died as a result of this fire and who were buried in East Cleveland Cemetery. Veterans of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, Indian War, Spanish American War, World Wars l and ll, and the Vietnam War are buried in East Cleveland Cemetery.
